Cloud Range Cyber, a Nashville cybersecurity company, is opening a local cyber security training facility, called Nashville Cyber Range.
The center, opening in early 2019, will offer response simulation exercises and workforce development training to prepare cybersecurity professionals in the private and public sector and help them defend their organizations and companies against cyber attacks.
Cybersecurity, or the protection of internet systems, has become one of the biggest challenges for businesses globally. Credit bureaus, retailers, banks and health care companies have been targeted.
“The Nashville Cyber Range is prepared to help companies, both locally and around the country, avoid the crippling effects of a cyber attack,” Cloud Range CEO Debbie Gordon said. "Cloud Range is poised to help companies perform safely amidst the increasing cyber threats of the 21st century."
The cybersecurity niche is expected to triple open positions in the next five years, expanding an existing skills gap, according to Cloud Range Cyber officials. The lack of training opportunities and the growing complexity of the issue contributes to the shortage of skilled workers in the field.
