Shipt’s new CEO Kelly Caruso says the online shopping app will continue to expand this year, growing into new markets with new offerings.
Plus, she has a new appreciation for the job Shipt shoppers do, after spending time as one.
Caruso, who was named in March to lead the firm that began in Birmingham, gave a short interview to Target’s corporate site, “A Bullseye View.” In December 2017 Target bought Shipt for $550 million in cash. Last year, Shipt announced an expansion of its Birmingham operations and plans to hire 881 new Birmingham-based workers.
Caruso was most recently a senior vice president at Target responsible for developing the merchandising and guest experience strategies for toys, electronics and entertainment. In her interview, she pointed to Shipt adding Petco to its marketplace this year, which allows same-day delivery of pet supplies in more than 200 markets.
Calling 2018 a “tremendous period of growth” for Shipt, Caruso said she wants to keep the momentum going.
“We’re continuing to expand in categories such as alcohol—a great value add for our members and retailers alike—as well as prescription delivery,” Caruso said. “We also want to maintain our momentum in the markets we’re serving, continue to grow in new markets and further differentiate Shipt as the same-day delivery partner of choice for consumers and retailers.”
