Cloud-based mobile testing platform Kobiton has closed a $5.2 million Series A funding round. Led by BIP Capital, the round also saw participation from the startup’s seed investors, KMS Technology and Kinetic Ventures, and several individuals including its own CEO, Kevin Lee.
“We view the caliber of investors as a vote of confidence in our business, our team and our product,” said Lee, who was appointed in 2017.
Kobiton was founded in 2016 by the founders of software testing company QASymphony. The company was incubated inside consulting firm KMS Technology before being spun out.
The initial idea came from the difficulty developers have when testing apps on different mobile devices. There are thousands of types of devices on the market, many of which are less easily accessible.
Kobiton provides a cloud-based test environment that connects with a real mobile device, letting developers test their apps before launch. It currently supports more than 350 devices.
