RALEIGH – Google Fiber is adding Webpass to its name, and rebranding. It is now called Google Fiber Webpass, and it is offering its new wireless service to existing Webpass cities: Seattle, San Diego, San Francisco, Denver, Miami and Chicago. It comes after a limited offering in two outposts — Austin and most recently Nashville.
The Triangle and Charlotte are still on the waiting list.
Speed ranges from 100 megabits per second to one gigabyte.
The cost is $70 per month or $58.33 per month with an annual contract.
“From now on, whether you’re in San Diego or San Francisco, Denver or Chicago, you’ll see the Google Fiber Webpass name whenever you are looking for truly fast, reliable internet. Google Fiber Webpass leverages point-to-point wireless technologies to quickly serve customers in apartments and condos in high density areas, which makes us a great fit for residents in the dynamic and growing cities we serve,” wrote Brien Bell, head of Webpass.
